The War

He turned to face her.

Dark looked at him.

He tried to act as if everything was fine.

Dark sighed and turned to sleep.

Perhaps it's best if they don't know. Florence thought with a sigh. He knew that Edmund had told them he would help them, so he wasn't exactly sure how he could tell them that he was going to die.

Dark whispered in his ear: "When you die, I want your scythe."

"You don't understand, do you?" Florence asked. "If I die then the Fourth Gate will reopen. Without a Reaper bound to the weapon, it's just a key."

Dark sighed. "Then how do you live."

"In my current state, I don't. I could try to seal myself away in the scythe to prolong my life, but there's only about a fifty percent chance that doing that won't kill me."

Dark nodded.

Florence sighed. The was a faint burst of light. The white vanished from his hair and he collapsed.

Dark sighed silently. She decided to at least try to sleep.

Everyone else was either asleep or unconscious.

Dark slept late into thje afternoon.

Daniel and Scott were already awake by the time she woke up.

Dark rubbed her forehead. "Migraine already." Dark looked at what Florence had transformed into.

Daniel looked over at the unconscious boy on the floor.

Dark sighed. "Where's Emily?"

"I think she's still asleep."

"Lazy..." Dark muttered. "Come on, Scott. They're holding training in the gym." Dark led the way to the gym.

Scott followed Dark.

Dark was now taller and older than him. She also looked more mature. She calmly walked across the bustling city. The city was entirely in a cave, and was accessible only by river. Dark opened the gym doors and sauntered in. "There is the shooting range, there the combat center, there the place where you can get into shape, there the pool, and upstairs is the elemental practice." Dark explained. "This building was build a few years after your death."

Scott took it all in. He figured he would never be going upstairs.

Dark went to the combat center.

Scott went to the shooting range first to see if he had gotten rusty while he was dead.
