The War

Mako was regarding them with a calm eye.

Damien remembered he still had the gun and tossed it to Florence. Florence caught it and looked at it. He recognized what it was instantly. He wondered why Damien would give it to him instead of Joshua, but then he remembered.

"Maybe you can give it to me," Mako said.

"And what would you do with it?" Damien asked.

"None of your business."

Florence put the gun in his pocket. "If you won't even tell us why you want it, how can we trust you?"

"Because I outrank you, and killing you wouldn't do me any good."

"Outrank? Who exactly do you think you are?"

"Mako."

"I know your name." Florence said.

Mako gave a little grin. He moves impossibly fast, grabbing the gun out of Florence's pocket.

Florence looked up at him. That was the second fastest thing I've ever seen.

"You must really think highly of yourself." Joshua said. "Stealing something from an unsuspecting target."

"It's Jama's. I need it."

"For what?"

"..." Kartel came back with some sandwiches. "I got them for you! Thought you might be hungry after killing Jama!" He gave Dark a smile. Dark took the platter and began eating.

"Fine." Joshua said. "Don't tell us."

Florence doubted that Mako even needed the gun, he just didn't want them to have it incase Katra attacked.

Dark offered them a sandwich. "They're really good!" She was holding the tray.

They didn't want any sandwiches.

"Suit yourselves." Dark knew that they didn't have to eat.

They also weren't in the mood for sandwiches.

Dark was starving. Dark was still alive.

None of the Reapers were alive.

Dark shrugged. Mako took a sandwich.

"What do you need that for?" Damien asked. He thought Mako was acting rather suspicious.

"I like a good sandwich."
